Having holidayed in Lyme Regis for many years we can honestly say that Lewesdon is probably the best place we have stayed. Julia and David are excellent hosts and attend to every detail. The accommodation is immaculate and the breakfast, including home-made bread, granola, jams and marmalade to complement the cooked to order breakfast, is a great start to the day.
Fresh milk is left outside the room in the morning, for tea and coffee in your room, and Julia bakes fantastic cakes for an afternoon tea. In the room there’s a Nespresso coffee machine, local damson gin and homemade welsh cakes. It’s these little touches that make the difference.
The room itself, we stayed in Cobb, was extremely spacious, as was the en-suite bathroom, and the very large bed was as comfortable as they get.
The house itself has been restored to an exacting standard and there is ample parking and a lovely garden.
We hope to visit again soon.
"Above & Beyond Excellent"
Every detail of our stay at Lewesdon was first class. The welcome when we arrived, with tea and superb homemade cakes, the room was light and airy and spotlessly clean every day, the little personal touches such as milk on the doorstep every morning, lovely made to order breakfasts, Julia’s wonderful welsh cakes in the room and damson gin for our evening tipple! David & Julia were the perfect hosts and shared all their local knowledge and made our stay above and beyond comfortable. Couldn’t find anything to fault! Highly recommended.
"Best B&B I've stayed in"
Arriving after a long drive to be welcomed with a cup of tea and lovely cake was really special. David and Julia made us so welcome. The room was spotless with everything you could want – even a Nespresso Coffee Machine and small decanter of damson gin. Breakfasts are to die for – all the bread and preserves are home made. Luckily some strenuous walks available to work the breakfast off!
"Elegant accommodation with Superb Hosts"
We have stayed in a number of Lyme Regis hotels and guesthouses in recent years when visiting the town for long weekends. Amongst these The Lewesdon is certainly been the best. The house is an elegant building, a short walk from the town centre. We parked on the road nearby at no cost though could have parked on the premises. Our room, ‘Pebble’ is spacious with a dual aspect and has generously proportioned en suite facilities. On arrival David took great care to explain to us how the shower worked and other useful information. Breakfast was superb and enlivened by additional items such as delicious sourdough pancakes that Julia made one morning during our stay. Guests from all three rooms sit at one large table. We soon found ourselves conversing with a couple who had visited the town to complete part of the coastal footpath. In general much care has been taken to make guests’ experience enjoyable and memorable. This includes the supply of home made welsh cakes to the room and the daily provision of a bottle of milk at the door of the room each morning. This will certainly be my first choice of accommodation when making future visits to Lyme Regis.
"FABULOUS IN ALL WAYS!"
Two American hikers arriving in Lyme Regis for the first time and thanks to TripAdvisor we stayed in this most incredibly charming B&B. Julia and David recently purchased and beautifully remodeled this Victorian home. It is lovely in every way as are Julia and David. Julia is an amazing cook and both were incredibly generous with their maps and advise on places to hike and dine.It is spotlessly clean with lovely amenities. We will be back.
"It doesn't get much better than this !"
Had a wonderful stay with David & Julia at Lewesdon. We stayed in the Cobb room, which was extremely clean and comfortable. Lovely big bathroom and great shower. Really nice facilities in the room, including a Nespresso machine and a good selection of Teas. Proper fresh milk ever day , and don’t forget (I won’t) the Welsh Cakes. I guess the most important parts of a B&B, are the Bed & Breakfast. I found the bed to be very comfortable, which in my experience is quite unusual, so full marks there. Breakfast was also a five star event. All the food is locally sourced, and Julia’s freshly baked bread was gorgeous. You’ll struggle to find hosts that genuinely care about making you welcome, and your stay as enjoyable as possible. I honestly couldn’t ask for more. I know where I’ll be staying next time we visit Lyme Regis.
"Great B&B, handy for River Cottage"
Fabulous B&B, made to feel so welcome by Julia and David. Lovely room, wonderful hosts, attentive but not intrusive. The breakfast was lovely, granola and fruit bowls delicious and the full English as well, sausages to die for! Lyme Regis is well worth a visit, lots of quirky shops and interesting history everywhere. We had a fun night on the Saturday. 15 minutes to River Cottage HQ for Sunday lunch next day.
"A wonderful relaxing break"
We really enjoyed staying at Lewesdon B & B, it turned out to be a perfect place for us to relax and unwind. Julia and David were extremely friendly and helpful, giving us lots of ideas of things to do. The breakfast was the best ever!!! The food was top notch and it was a very generous cooked breakfast that set us up nicely for the day ahead! Our room was lovely – very clean, a big comfy bed, a charming style and relaxing feel about it and our bathroom was spacious with an amazing shower! Thank you both for having us and we would love to come back when we get a chance!
"Home from home"
If you’re looking for a very warm welcome, large airy room, comfortable king size bed, delicious cooked to order full English breakfast with home made bread, marmalade, welsh cakes, etc. look no further than this exceptional B & B. Lewesdon is a short 5 minute walk downhill from a large variety of interesting shops, museum, fossil hunting and the sea. Plenty of on site parking and bus stop outside if you prefer to avoid the uphill walk back. We look forward to a return visit!
